In 2010, Toyota recalled many MY 2007-2010 Camrys for floor mat incursion and sticking pedal issues related to unintended acceleration.Toyota did not recall MY 2005 Camrys, although a US Federal lawsuit filed in February 2010 claims that faulty Camry brakes were responsible for two deaths in January, 2010.Evaluations by Car and Driver and Edmunds.com found that the Camry's brakes were powerful enough to overcome the accelerator in all tests, bringing the car safely to a stop.
Power comes from a choice of four and six-cylinder engines.For 2010, power is increased to 169, verses the 158 from 2007 to 2009.Power locks,stability control,and traction control were made standard for 2010 also. The 2.4 L 2AZ- engine was carried over and produced 158 horsepower (118 kW). It came with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic. The 3.5 L 2GR-FE V6 in contrast came with a new six-speed automatic and produces 268 horsepower (200 kW).The Camry was facelifted for the 2010 model year with a redesigned fascia, taillights, and an all-new 2.5-liter 2AR-FE 4-cylinder engine with new 6-speed transmissions.
